Challenge: A leading technology company identified a critical gap in workplace bias awareness among its employees. A comprehensive needs analysis revealed that staff across all levels lacked the ability to recognize and address various forms of workplace bias effectively. This deficiency was negatively impacting team dynamics, decision-making processes, and overall company culture.
Solution:Employing the ADDIE model, I developed an engaging microlearning module titled "Recognize & Overcome: Workplace Bias Awareness" using Articulate Storyline 360. This concise 5-minute course was designed to equip employees with essential skills for identifying and mitigating workplace biases while fostering a more inclusive and equitable work environment.
The module features an interactive tabbed interface allowing learners to explore different types of workplace biases at their own pace, complemented by real-world scenarios that help employees recognize biases in practical contexts.
The heart of the module lies in its scenario-based learning approach, where interactive exercises challenge learners to apply their newly acquired knowledge in simulated workplace situations. To reinforce key concepts, I included a drag-and-drop activity that requires learners to match workplace bias problems with appropriate solutions.
Upon completion, learners will be able to identify multiple types of workplace biases accurately, recognize their influence on professional interactions and decisions, apply strategies to mitigate their own unconscious biases and contribute to fostering a more inclusive and equitable workplace culture.

Challenge: A start-up company observed increased absenteeism among its top-performing employees, which coincided with Ramadan. Upon investigation, it was discovered that management lacked understanding of how to accommodate Muslim staff observing the fast. A comprehensive needs analysis revealed a significant knowledge gap among managers regarding religious accommodation practices, especially for Muslim employees during Ramadan.
Solution: Leveraging the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation), we developed a targeted microlearning course. This intervention aimed to equip leadership with essential skills for supporting Muslim staff during Ramadan, while fostering an inclusive interfaith workplace culture and ensuring compliance with guidelines for preventing religious discrimination. The curriculum was created in collaboration with subject matter experts and covered legal requirements for religious accommodation, strategies for maintaining productivity during Ramadan, cultural sensitivity training, procedures for managing accommodation requests, and effective communication techniques for diverse teams.
Feedback: User interview demonstrated increased managerial confidence in supporting employees observing Ramadan. Future iterations will incorporate higher-level Kirkpatrick evaluations to measure behavior change and organizational impact.

Challenge: A company, wishing to remain anonymous, faced challenges with employee engagement and retention during prolonged training sessions. A needs analysis conducted during the Analysis phase of the ADDIE model revealed significant dips in productivity and learner disengagement, highlighting the need for more efficient training methods.
Solution: In response, an interactive microlearning course was developed, focusing on the benefits of microlearning for adult learners. This course was designed with bite-sized, focused content to enhance comprehension and recall. The microlearning approach aimed to address the identified issues by delivering information in shorter, more digestible bursts, tailored to the learning preferences of adult participants.
Feedback: Evaluation methods, including learner feedback, surveys, and performance metrics, were utilized to assess participant engagement, knowledge retention, and the application of skills. The results indicated a substantial increase in engagement, with learners appreciating the concise and targeted delivery of the material. This feedback confirmed the effectiveness of the microlearning course in improving preparation for applying acquired knowledge on the job. Future iterations will continue to refine and adapt the course content based on ongoing feedback and evolving
